FAQs

What should I expect during a routine dental cleaning and exam?

At Rocky Creek Dental Care, we recommend exams and cleanings every six months. Our team removes plaque and calculus, polishes your teeth, and checks for any early signs of cavities or gum disease. We’ll also take digital X‑rays as needed to detect issues that aren’t visible during the exam.

What is Invisalign, and how is it different from braces?

Invisalign uses custom, clear, removable aligners to straighten teeth—no wires, no brackets, and complete freedom to eat and drink without restrictions.

Are digital X‑rays safe and beneficial?

Yes. Digital radiographs use lower radiation than traditional X‑rays and allow us to detect hidden issues early—helping us plan treatment more accurately and safely.

How do you treat gum (periodontal) disease?

Early detection through exams and cleanings is key. For treatment, we offer periodontal therapy and advanced laser treatments that reduce bacteria and promote tissue healing.

What are my options if a tooth is missing?

We offer several options:

  • Dentures: Removable appliances for replacing multiple missing teeth.
  • Bridges: Fixed appliances to close gaps between teeth.
  • Implants: Titanium posts placed in the jaw, topped with lifelike crowns—no preparation of adjacent teeth required .

What home care do you recommend for oral health?

We suggest brushing twice daily with a mechanical toothbrush, flossing once a day, using fluoride toothpaste and mouthwash, and drinking water after acidic or sugary foods. Staying hydrated supports saliva production, which helps fight cavities.

What is an intraoral scanner, and why is it used?

Our intraoral scanner captures precise digital impressions—replacing traditional “goop” impressions whenever possible. It’s more comfortable and accurate.

What types of payment and insurance options are available?

We accept cash, checks, Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover. Flexible, interest-free payment plans are also available via CareCredit.

How do I know if I need a filling or an extraction?

If a tooth has minor decay or a small crack, a filling can restore it. But if the damage is extensive or the tooth is severely decayed, an extraction may be necessary to prevent pain and infection.

How do you make dentistry comfortable for children?

We focus on creating a fun, positive atmosphere for kids. Our staff takes time to explain procedures in kid-friendly terms so children feel informed and at ease during their visit.

What options are there for teeth whitening?

We offer professional in-office whitening treatments that effectively reduce stains and brighten your smile using modern technology.

When is a crown or bridge necessary?

A crown is recommended when a tooth is severely damaged, decayed, or beyond what a filling can fix. A bridge helps fill the space when one or more teeth are missing, restoring both appearance and function.

What is involved in a root canal treatment?

A root canal treats the inner pulp of an infected or inflamed tooth. We clean, disinfect, and seal the canals to preserve the tooth’s structure and relieve pain.

Do you offer sedation for anxious patients?

Yes—we provide nitrous oxide (laughing gas) and prescribed oral sedatives. While we don’t offer IV sedation, these options are effective and safe for most patients.

What are the benefits of laser dentistry?

We use soft tissue lasers for procedures like gum contouring, treating periodontal disease, removing lesions, frenectomies, and accelerating whitening. Benefits include less bleeding, reduced discomfort, and faster recovery.

What if I don’t have dental insurance?

Our Membership Plan covers preventive care with low monthly or one-time annual payments. It includes cleanings, exams, and 10% off additional treatments—with no insurance company involved.
